New software shipping

Well, my office has received the latest AutoCAD, and ADT 2007 – in DVD format for a change. Time to start planning the next implementation. :)

Also as of 4/13, Revit 9 is now shipping. You can download the trial version or order a CD here: http://www.autodesk.com/revitbuilding

With a new Rooms object, detail library, & better IFC integration and import/export with SketchUP files, this release has a lot of things to get excited about. A more comprehensive review will follow in an upcoming post.

Back to Basics

Even with ‘intelligent objects’, we can’t draw everything. Today, I’ll be in Boston at this month’s Greater Boston Autodesk User Group meeting presenting on using AutoCAD’s drawing aids for placing geometry quickly and accurately.
Topics covered:

  • Demystifying Polar and Object tracking
  • Understanding relative coordinates and Dynamic Input
  • Using override keys
  • Placing blocks accurately, the first time
